Abstract
Cesarean section is the most performed surgical procedure and its numbers are continually increasing all over the world. This phenomenon has led to a growing awareness of the negative short- and long-term consequences associated with the procedure. The most frequent and serious sequelae, such as uterine rupture and placenta accreta, have been related to the technique used to suture the uterine breach.
The use of a new material and a new suturing technique, the Genoa Method, seems to minimize these risks, allowing better healing of the uterine wall. A very important detail for subsequent pregnancies, regardless of the tecqhnique chosen for the delivery.
The meeting aims to present our technique and the results of our last studies, to compare them with those of other groups who have adopted it and, above all, to frame the problem within a new socio-cultural context, in which the birth rate represents an increasingly discussed and important issue.
